A lot of people would always want to end the year with a bang and the same goes with welcoming the new year! No matter what day of the year it is, goal-setting can always be accomplished. I only know a handful of people who set goals - personally or professionally and they usually have a plan on how they will achieve their goals. However, setting goals and creating a plan is one thing, and implementing it is a different thing. It takes a lot of effort to stick to a plan and focus on the goal. So, what do you need to accomplish this? - Discipline!

Building personal discipline and making it long-lasting can be challenging, but it is doable. It is always a matter of choice! Discipline is one of the values of successful people. It takes time and effort to master it and once you've reached that discipline, you're on auto-pilot.

By following a specific framework and developing strategies, it's possible to establish a strong sense of self-control and achieve your goals.

Here are some ways to build personal discipline➡️

Set clear and specific goals 🎯

The first step in building personal discipline is to set clear and specific goals. Identify what you want to achieve and create a plan of action to reach those goals. This will give you a sense of purpose and direction, and help you to stay focused and motivated.

Break down your goals into small, manageable tasks🤹‍♀️

Break down your goals into small, manageable tasks that you can focus on one at a time. This will make it easier to stay motivated and on track, and prevent you from feeling overwhelmed.

Create a schedule 📆

Create a schedule that incorporates the tasks and activities you need to do to achieve your goals. This will help you to stay organized and prioritize your time effectively.

Use a reminder system 🔔

Use a reminder system to help you stay on track. This could be a calendar, a to-do list, or an app that sends you notifications. Sticky notes would work too!

Eliminate distractions 📵

Eliminate distractions that may prevent you from focusing on your goals. This could include turning off your phone, closing unnecessary tabs on your computer, or finding a quiet place to work. Schedule a "technology time" and stick to it.

Reward yourself 🎖️

Reward yourself and celebrate for making progress towards your goals. This will help to keep you motivated and on track.

Develop a growth mindset💡

Part of building your discipline is developing a growth mindset. You can do this by embracing challenges and viewing mistakes as opportunities to learn and grow. This can help you be persistent in the face of adversity.

Be accountable 👩‍💼👨‍💼

Be accountable to someone else for your progress. This could be a friend, family member, or coach. They can help you to stay on track and provide support and encouragement when you need it.

Reflect on your progress 📝

Reflect and evaluate your progress regularly. This will help you to identify areas where you need to improve and make adjustments to your plan as needed.

Be consistent✅

Be consistent in your efforts to build personal discipline. Discipline is not something that can be built overnight, but by being consistent in your efforts, you will be able to establish a strong sense of self-control and achieve your goals in the long run.

Remember that it's a process and there will be times that there will be temptations that will take your focus away from your goal. Discipline can be achieved, as long as you have clarity on what you're trying to achieve and have a strong reason why you're doing it.

“Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishment.” – Jim Rohn

✔️Try this

Start building your discipline by doing small work. If working out is too much for you, maybe you can start with a 5-minute stretching exercise or have a daily walking exercise in your neighborhood. An activity doesn't have to be difficult, just start with the small stuff.
